St.Colman's Blitz Last Thursday 26th September, a bus of 15 excited boys headed
off to take part in the St. Colman’s hurling Blitz. This is an annual event which is extremely well organised and well supported by the local schools. It is definitely one of the highlights of our school year. In the group games we played Ballynoe, Kilmagner and Ballyhooly. After a defeat to Ballynoe in the opening game, the boys played their heart out and showed some great teamwork to come out victorious against Kilmagner and Ballyhooly. This brought us to the semi-final of the shield competition where we played Kilworth which can only be described as an epic game where the boys fought hard and it was a very close competition. Our boys showed fantastic spirit and determination, fighting for every ball running out winners in the end bringing us to the final where we played Castletownroche. This was a good game of hurling from our boys and their ability to play as a team was evident as they clocked up some lovely scores till that final whistle blew and we had won. Every boy represented the school with great distinction and honour and they should be very proud of their efforts as we all are here in the school. We would also like to say a special thanks to Mike Walsh who has been training the boys and coached them on the day and to Ms. Power for her help on the day also. Special mention to the parents who, as always, were a huge support to the boys on the day. Best of luck to the boys who are competing in the Sciath Na Scol football Semi-final this week.
