First Aid Workshop Children from 3rd to 6th class had the wonderful experience of
learning about C.P.R./First Aid. Aisling Doyle, who is a nurse by profession and who also works with St. John’s Ambulance visited the school and gave the children a lesson on C.P.R. The children received a fridge magnet on which they were to write their eircode. Please ensure that these are displayed prominently. Go raibh míle maith agat, a Aisling.

Junior Entrepreneur Programme 2020 After many deliberations from a panel of dragons the proposal chosen for the Junior Entrepreneur project for 5th and 6th class of 2020 is the ‘Busy Boots’. The ‘Busy Boots’ business will transform used, old wellington boots and shoes into beautiful, charming flowerpots. This coming Friday the 28th of February, 5th and 6th will host a showcase day in the school. Invitations have been sent to all families in the school today and we look forward to seeing everyone there. At the showcase, you will be provided with the opportunity to gather further information on the project and to view products that will be available for purchase, to take part in a themed quiz competition, to enjoy a sketch created and acted out by the children and to put in an order for products if interested. A limited number of products will also be available for purchase on the day. Well done to Mr. Walsh, Ms. Leigh and all the pupils in 5th and 6th class for all of their hard work on the project so far. We wish you all the best with your business venture. Online Safety and Anti-Bullying Workshops On the 28th of January, Pat Courtney, presented the pupils,
teachers and parents of the school with very informative and helpful workshops in the areas of bullying and online safety. Through the use of a variety of methodologies, Pat explored the definition of bullying, the ways in which people bully others and the reasons they do so. He worked to provide the children with ideas on how they might deal with both face to face and online bullying if it were to ever happen to them or to someone they know. He placed a large emphasis on cyber bullying, strategies for staying safe online and how to report bullying they may witness online. Many thanks to all the parents who made their way to the school for the information evening. Below is the link to a useful website suggested by Pat and which is also used by teachers when exploring the topic of internet safety. https://www.webwise.ie/parents/ |
