Festive Fun Children from Junior Infants to 6th class entertained their parents with festive carols and poems in the school hall over a number of mornings on the run up to the Christmas holidays. Well done to all the children who did a fantastic job. Thanks to Mr. Walsh and the children from 5th and 6th Class who had a 'live crib' at the entrance each morning. In case you missed it below are a number of pictures and video for you to enjoy. A big thank you to Una Finn who provided us with them. Carol Singing at Ballyvolane Shopping Centre Many children from the school performed Christmas carols in Ballyvolane Shopping Centre before
Christmas. They sang their hearts out and did the school very proud. Many thanks to all who helped out on the occasion. See pictures below which were captured on the evening thanks to Una Finn. A few pictures from Term 1 :) Visit to Cork Pops 2016 All the children and staff of our school enjoyed a trip to Cork Pops recently at Cork City Hall. This was a very enjoyable event which gave the children the opportunity to interact with a live orchestra. A great day was had by all. Green Schools' Flag In recent weeks, Mary Stack from An Taisce, visited to assess
the school for its first Green Flag. She spoke at length with Ms. O’Sullivan and the Green School Committee and looked at their folder, which documents all the work done over the past year and a half. She visited all the classes to speak with the children. She was most impressed with the work of the committee and all the children in the school and gave very complimentary feedback. She has recommended that the school get its first Green Flag which will be awarded at a ceremony in Cork in May. Well done to Ms. O’Sullivan and Ms. Higgins who led this initiative and worked so hard with the children. Well done to the Green School Committee and all the children in the school who worked together with such commitment to achieve this flag. We will have a flag raising day in June for to celebrate this wonderful achievement. Work is already underway on the second Green Flag which is awarded for reducing energy consumption in the school. Keep an eye on the Green School's Page (School Initiatives) for updates on their progress. |
