The school was represented by two excellent quiz teams at the
Curraglass National School Quiz. Well done to all who participated on the night.
​The 3rd and 4th class team won first place in their category. This was a fantastic achievement- well done to all!

​​We have recently been awarded our second Green Flag! The Green Flag (based on the theme of Energy) was presented to our school by An Taisce at an awards ceremony  on the 13th May.

Two pupils from our Green Schools committee attended to accept the award on behalf of our school. 

​This is a fantastic achievement for the school and each and every child from Junior Infants right up to Sixth Class has played their part in achieving this flag. We will have a flag raising ceremony on the afternoon of June 21st.

Well done to our hurlers who reached the semi-final of the Sciath na Scol competition this year. They lost out narrowly to Firmount in the semi-final. They did the school proud with an excellent display of sportsmanship. Well done to all! 

We celebrated World Book Day in our school on the 12th April

2019.

All the children looked fantastic as they  came to school

dressed up as their favourite characters. 


Lots of activities took place throughout the day such as

character interviews, book reviews  and shared reading between

the junior and senior classes.

In April, we had a visit from our local fire fighters from the Fermoy. They spoke to us ​about the role of fire-fighters  and the importance of fire safety.

Children from 3rd-6th class had the opportunity to observe a chip pan fire demonstration and learn about what to do and what not to do in the event of a chip pan fire in the home.

Bhain na páistí an-taitneamh as na himeachtaí agus bhí siad ag déanamh an-iarracht an Ghaeilge a labhairt cé chomh minic agus is féidir i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Engineers Week was a very enjoyable week in our school. The

​ children completed a number of fun investigations and projects.

Children from 3rd and 4th class constructed cars which were

powered by balloons. We then had car races with the junior and

senior infants and we explored the efficiency of our cars! 




In 5th and 6th class the children designed and constructed a

house for the 4th little pig. In teams the children had to decide

which materials were best suited to build a strong house that

could stay standing in the ‘wind of the wolf’ and budget

appropriately to purchase those materials.

Once constructed we then tested their houses against the wind

(hairdryer) and measured the distance travelled by each house

when battling with the wind.

On 20th February, the children participated in an pet/animal welfare workshop run by Maxi Zoo.

We learned that animals have needs and feelings. We also learned about the importance of taking responsibility for caring for our pets. The children also got to meet         the rabbit!
