Friendship Week 2017 The week beginning the 25th of September 2016 was a special
week in Bishop O’Brien National school, as we celebrated Friendship Week. This year a particular emphasis was placed on being an ‘Upstander’. This term is used in the school to encourage children to speak up if they become aware of someone being left out or being treated unfairly. We learned about ways in which we can be upstanders and the older classes took part in a slogan competition based on this theme. All the children in the school put great effort into their posters and these are on display in the school. Throughout the week a variety of activities took place in all classrooms including circle time, art activities, paired reading between senior and junior classes, writing friendship poems, random acts of kindness etc. Overall, it was a wonderful week and the message of friendship was embraced by all. Below are some of the photographs from the week . Sciath na Scol Following on from the St.Colman's/ Loreto Blitz our teams
continued their sporting ventures in the Sciath na Scol competition. This involved trips to Minane Bridge and Coachford and a home game against Ballincurrig National School. Unfortunately our teams did not reach the semi finals this year but can feel proud of their achievements. Maith Sibhse a pháistí! Many thanks to all the parents who supported our teams throughout the campaign. Junior Infants 2017 A warm welcome to all the boys and girls who have started
school this year. We have had a wonderful and busy time so far getting to know one another and the school. The children have settled in very well and we look forward to a great year ahead. Below are some photographs of the children during their first few weeks of school St. Colman's College/ Loreto Convent Blitz The annual St. Colman's College/ Loreto Convent blitz took
place on the 21st of September in Fermoy. Our boys and girls teams participated and after a number of very competitive matches both teams won their plate finals with narrow victories in both. Well done to the boys and girls for their fantastic achievement. |
