Friendship Week 2017 The week beginning the 25th of September 2016 was a special
week in Bishop O’Brien National school, as we celebrated Friendship Week. This year a particular emphasis was placed on being an ‘Upstander’. This term is used in the school to encourage children to speak up if they become aware of someone being left out or being treated unfairly. We learned about ways in which we can be upstanders and the older classes took part in a slogan competition based on this theme. All the children in the school put great effort into their posters and these are on display in the school. Throughout the week a variety of activities took place in all classrooms including circle time, art activities, paired reading between senior and junior classes, writing friendship poems, random acts of kindness etc. Overall, it was a wonderful week and the message of friendship was embraced by all. Below are some of the photographs from the week .
