Safety Internet Day 2018 Safer Internet Day was marked nationally on the 6th of
February 2018. There is much talk in the media at the moment about the digital age of consent which is currently at 13 years of age. There is an active campaign to have this age raised to 14. This implies that any child of primary school age should not be on social media such as snapchat, instagram or facebook. In our school we completed a number of activities to highlight Internet Safety over the course of the week. We held a poster/slogan competition on the theme of internet safety, we created acrostic poems and a local guard, Brian Murray paid a visit to the school this morning to talk to 3rd - 6th class on the importance of keeping safe on the internet.we also set up a display on the corridor to remind the children of the rules for internet safety ( see below) Acrostic poems created by the fantastc children from 1st & 2nd class can be seen below . Further examples of children's work and competition winners will be uploaded in the coming week. Below are some links that you may find useful on the topic of Internet safety from www.webwise.ie .
